Who we are
Innovation Maritime is a technology transfer center and an applied research center, created by the Institut maritime du Québec, who provides R&D services, technical support, SME development support, and technology watch services to companies and organizations involved in the marine industry.
Innovation maritime is a non-for-profit corporation, directed by a board of representatives from the marine industry and research sectors.
Innovation maritime’s projects are organized around five main research areas: marine safety and security, port management and marine transport, underwater and hyperbaric interventions, electronic navigation and, environmental technologies related to marine transport.
College centre for technology transfer
Innovation maritime is recognized by Quebec’s Ministère de l’Enseignement supérieur, de la Recherche, de la Science et de la Technologie as a College centre for technology transfer (CCTT). This recognition is a confirmation of the quality of the work taking place at Innovation maritime and its ability to contribute to the development of Quebec’s maritime industry through applied research.
Innovation maritime is a member of the Réseau Trans-Tech, a network of Quebec College centres for technology transfer, and also a Green Marine Partner.
Research and Development Tax Credit Program
Innovation maritime is certified by the Quebec and Canadian ministries of revenue. This recognition allows individuals and companies who request a research and development project from Innovation maritime to apply for major tax credits. The research center could help his clients about the demand for the tax credit program of the Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED).
Innovation maritime is also recognized by Quebec’s ministère du Développement économique, de l’Innovation et de l’Exportation ( MDEIE) under its tax credit program for technological adaptation.
Eligibility Requirements for NSERC Grants
Innovation maritime researchers may receive financial support from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) when they present research projects in collaboration with university professors.
Achievements
Innovation maritime has completed more than two hundred projects in various fields in the maritime industry, both on the national and international levels. Innovation maritime also offers technical assistance and has participated in conferences and contributed to publications dedicated to marine transportation for more than ten years.
